Whether you’re on Oléron or the mainland, before or after the season, the Château d’Oléron market is a must!
It takes place on the Place de la République and under the Halles, intermingling benches of fresh produce – fruit, vegetables, fish, oysters, shellfish, meats, charcuterie, cheeses, breads and pastries, delicatessen dishes… – local products (local wine, Pineau, Cognac, coarse salt, Fleur de sel, honey and various sweets…), craftsmen from here and elsewhere, sellers of clothes, accessories, flowers, souvenirs…
The Château d’Oléron market is a convivial place to share and discover, held in the town center year-round from Tuesday to Sunday (7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), and every day of the week in July and August!
Our tip: go to the Marché du Château on Sunday mornings, as it’s known as the “grand marché”, where you can wander from stall to stall from 7.30am to 1pm.
