In summer, markets are held every morning on the island. Come and enjoy it to make your groceries!
The numerous markets of the Ile d’Oléron and the Bassin de Marennes are a must-see for those visiting the area. Under the market halls or outdoors, market gardeners, fishmongers, butchers ... are waiting for you to offer you the best of local production.
At Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, discover its covered market in rue Frank Massé every day except Monday, from April to September. From October 1st to March 31st, it takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. On the 4th Tuesday of the month there is a monthly fair, Place Gambetta.
At La Cotinière, fish lovers can shop at the Marché de la Victorine between 4:00pm and 8:00pm, Place Victorine, from Monday to Saturday. There is also a local market every morning on Port Street in the market square.
At Saint-Denis d'Oléron, you will meet Place Charles de Gaulle on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
A Le Grand-Village-Plage, le marché a lieu le mercredi matin. Ne ratez pas son marché fermier, d’avril à septembre, de 10h à 18h sur le Port des Salines.
A La Brée les Bains, c’est la bien nommée Place du marché qui accueille les couleurs, odeurs et saveurs de l’île le mercredi, vendredi, samedi et dimanche en plus des jours fériés.
The magnificent halls of Saint-Georges d’Oléron will make you salivate from Friday to Sunday between April and May and every morning during July and August.
The pedestrian street and Place de la Poste of Dolus d'Oléron (Wednesday and Saturday from mid-September to March; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from April to mid-June), Place de la République du Château d'Oléron (every morning except Monday) and Place des Filles de la Wisesse in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) are the other places on the island where you can fill your baskets.
On the side of Marennes, the market is held under the market halls of Place du Marché. Many local producers are present on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Between July and August, they are present every morning.
At the Gua, the market takes place on Sunday mornings, Place du Logis and on Sunday and Wednesday mornings for Bourcefranc-Le Chapus, on Place du Marché.

The market of Oléron Castle
Whether you are in Oléron or the continent, before or after the season, the market of the Château d'oléron is unmissable! It takes place in Place de la République and under Les Halles, mixing schools of fresh products - fruit, vegetables, fish, oysters, shellfish, shellfish, meats, cold cuts, cheese, bread and pastries, catering dishes, ...- local products (wine from Pays, Pineau, Cognac, coarse salt, Fleur de sel, honey & sweets, various... The Château d’Oléron Market is a real place of conviviality, sharing and discovery, and is held in the center of town all year round from Tuesday to Sunday from 7.30am to 12.30pm, and in July/August every day of the week !
Our tip: Choose the Château market on Sunday mornings because it is then called a "grand market" where you can taste benches in stalls from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The city center and the halls become a real hive where you can find everything and where Chileans, continental and holidaymakers mingle in search of simple pleasures and authenticity.
